Barbara Ann Christopher (nee Strubler) a long-time resident of Fountain Hills passed away Oct. 31, 2017 after a struggle with cancer.

She was born July 6, 1938 to Louise Leibrant Strubler and Harold H. Strubler of Wheaton, Ill. Louise told Harold she came from Heaven and he agreed.

She grew up in Wheaton attending public schools and at the ripe old age of 16 met and fell in love with a fellow from West Chicago named Lee Christopher.

Barbra graduated from Wheaton High School in 1956 and married Lee on June 29, 1957. They honeymooned in Fort Lauderdale, and nine months later their daughter, Deborah Lynn was born. Lee traded in his ’57 Chevy for a station wagon.

Patricia Sue was born Sept. 1, 1959, followed by James Paul (Jimmy) June 4, 1965. In 1968 they moved to Northwoods in West Chicago where the family lived and loved.

Weekends were spent camping with the kids, friends and family. Barbara was a wonderful seamstress and avid quilter.

They were empty nesters when they moved to Fountain Hills in 1993. Barb and Lee loved to travel and were fortunate to travel to Italy, Australia and Hawaii, but her biggest love was Lake Powell. She called it “God’s Country.”

Barb and Lee celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary year surrounded by their children and spouses; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, her sister, Sue and many nieces and nephews. Their love and legacy was sealed that day.

As per Barbara’s request there will be no services, however the family hopes you will say a special “God Bless” for Barb and Lee and raise your glass to celebrate a life well lived.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to Hospice of the Valley in her name, 9808 N. 95th Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85258.
