Northbound traffic lanes of State Route 87, Beeline Highway, have been closed to traffic between Mesa and Shea Boulevard due to a police search.

According to reports, Arizona Department of Public Safety officers are searching the desert area southeast of the Beeline for suspects that fled following a road rage incident on Loop 202 Red Mountain freeway earlier. Reports say shots were fired.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is assisting in the search with a helicopter, according to MCSO Capt. Larry Kratzer, District 7 commander.
