Kiwanis K-Kids began the new year cleaning Fountain Hills’ roads and safeguarding the environment by picking up garbage and other waste left on the side of the streets. Kiwanis K-Kids service initiatives aim to improve the Fountain Hills community in a variety of ways. The Adopt-a-Street program entails children and Kiwanis K-Kids members identifying a specific street, cleaning up trash and waste, and adopting a street to safeguard it from litter left outside.
“This is done five to six times a year to keep the town looking clean while also benefiting the surrounding environment,” said Kiwanis K-Kids leader Julie McGinnis. “Hardly you’re usually picking up routine, sometimes candy and wrappers, or a race to see who collects the oddest item. Create enjoyment while still keeping matters interesting.”
