Fountain Hills Girl Scouts builds habitats for rescued animals

Girl Scout Troop 6445 of Fountain Hills completed an ambitious service project this summer.

The troop visited Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center, a nonprofit conservation center that rescues Arizona native wild mammals with the aim of rehabilitating them as well as releasing them back into the wild if necessary.

According to a press release, the girls helped prepare and build small mammal habitats for the center’s sanctuary. They were provided plans by a Southwest Wildlife volunteer. The girls chose a habitat plan, calculated a lumber amount needed and learned how to use power tools.
