Wood burning activity has increased the level of particulate level prompting the advisory.

County issues pollution advisory, no burn day

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has issued a High Pollution Advisory for today, Monday, Dec. 8.
ADEQ notes that high pressure has reduced air circulation at higher elevations over the Valley likely leading to temperature inversion trapping stagnant air at ground level.
Wood burning activity has increased the level of particulate level prompting the advisory.
People with respiratory problems are urged to avoid exertion and stay indoors if possible.
ADEQ has issued a Health Watch for Tuesday, Dec. 9, for particulate pollution possibly approaching unhealthful levels.
The warning does initiate the county’s ban on wood burning and use of commercial dust blowers.
