VFW Post 7507 in Fountain Hills to host annual beer garden

All proceeds support VFW and its charities

Posted

The VFW Post 7507 is set to host another beer garden at the upcoming Spring Fountain Festival of Fine Arts and Crafts, Feb. 23-25.

The beer garden is called the “oasis for the hungry, thirsty or tired” in a family-friendly picnic-style environment.

In addition to the brats, beer, mixed drinks, hot dogs, Coca-Cola soft drinks, water and chili, VFW Post 7507 will conduct multiple 50/50 raffles, and sell Red Shirt Friday shirts and military-labeled hats.

The beer garden and mini-beer garden both provide a great place to relax in the shade or sun while taking a break from the great shopping opportunities provided by the many vendors and local merchants, a press release said.

Servers are available at the main beer garden on Saguaro Boulevard  during most operating hours, and the VFW Post 7507 invites everyone to visit the family-friendly beer garden to enjoy music and good food and drink during the festival.

Special this 50th Anniversary of the Fountain Festival of Fine Arts and Crafts and in conjunction with the hot air balloon activities, the VFW Post 7507 will provide hot chocolate and coffee from 7 to 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, weather permitting.

Live music provided

The VFW beer garden will again feature live music each day of the festival.

Throughout the day, the main beer garden will host Tommy Fontaine Friday and Saturday, and the “Mid-Life Vices” band will play at the main garden on Sunday.

Jim Doeden will provide music at the mini beer garden each day.

The music at the VFW beer garden is the only live entertainment at the Fountain Festival.

The tables within the beer garden enclosure are reserved for beer garden patrons, however, patrons are allowed to bring in outside food or drink if they purchase drinks, food or Red Shirt Friday products, the press release said, adding that buying food and drinks is a great way to support local veterans.

The family-friendly mini beer garden which serves beer, wine, soda, water and sells hats and Red Shirt Friday shirts is located at the intersection of the Avenue of the Fountains and Verde River Drive.

Since Veterans Day in 2010, VFW has spearheaded the sale of Red Shirt Friday shirts that honor the troops, the release said. Military-themed caps and shirts have recently been added to the collection and all profits support programs for homeless veterans and other veterans in need.

VFW Post 7507 is vital support for veterans

The annual beer garden and Ralph Truax Memorial VFW Golf Tournament are the primary sources of revenue each year to support the Post’s many charitable endeavors, according to a press release. Such endeavors include support for the VA Hospital, Honor Flight, the Arizona National Guard Family Support Fund, homeless veterans and Arizona Standdown.

The VFW also gives cash awards to winners of the Patriots Pen and Voice of Democracy essay contests for students and gives special recognition to teachers, firefighters and peace officers and scouts.

Nationwide, VFW Posts and their auxiliaries provide over $2.8 million in college scholarships to high school students every year, according to the press release.

Veterans interested in joining or determining eligibility to join the VFW can get additional information by contacting Post Commander Bill Luzinski at 480-836-5520 or by e-mail at vfw7507@yahoo.com.

The VFW Post 7507 and the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce will again host a “Thank You” dinner for vendors Saturday night.
