Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church has introduced a free, informative community seminar, A Legacy of Love: Thoughtful Funeral and Estate Planning, taking place Monday, Nov. 18, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
A complimentary dinner will follow in the Fellowship Hall at 5 p.m. providing further opportunities for attendees to interact with the seminar speakers and ask additional questions.
This seminar is designed to help families in Fountain Hills and the surrounding areas prepare for the future with confidence and compassion, according to a press release. By planning ahead, individuals can relieve their loved ones of difficult decisions during times of grief.
Guest speakers
Guest speakers include Tait Elkie, estate planning attorney with the Fountain Hills Law Firm and Allan Ruby, manager and funeral director with Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary.
Elkie will guide attendees through key estate planning topics including “Comprehensive Estate Plans: How to protect your assets and ensure your wishes are followed;” “Wills vs. Trusts: Understanding the differences and choosing the best option for your family;” “Powers of Attorney: Safeguarding your health and finances with appropriate designations;” and “Estate Gifts to Your Church: Supporting your church’s mission, enhancing your legacy, and offering potential tax benefits.”
Ruby will discuss essential aspects of funeral pre-planning like “What to do when death occurs: Preparing your family for the necessary next steps;” “Funeral Pre-Arrangements: How to save your family from difficult, emotional decisions during a challenging time;” and “Service Options for Burial and Cremation: Choosing the service that aligns with your wishes and brings comfort to your loved ones.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions after the presentations.
Registration is required by Monday, Nov. 11, to ensure sufficient seating and food.
