The Four Peaks Questers is hosting a textiles presentation and silent auction event Saturday, March 22, at the Rio Verde Community Center.
The Four Peaks Questers chapter in Rio Verde is planning a presentation about restoring and repurposing old textiles at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 22, at the Rio Verde Community Center.
Refreshments and a silent auction of over 200 vintage and antique items is also planned at 2:30 p.m.
The program presenter is Marilyn Peterson Schroeder, a nurse who has a specialty in restoring and preserving things from the past. Schroeder has the largest collection of Hardanger lace in the nation, according to a press release.
For this event, she plans a discourse on collecting, restoring and repurposing old lace, garments and other textiles. Her presentation is entitled, “Nursing Your Favorite Things Back to Life.”
Following the presentation, a happy hour with hors d’oeuvres, refreshments and mocktails will be provided, during which a variety of collectibles will be auctioned off in lots.
Featured in the silent auction will be more than 25 collections of antiques and vintage items, comprising over 200 articles that would appeal to both women and men.
Lots include antique and vintage kitchen utensils, Native American art, old West and Southwest memorabilia, antique pipes and spectacles, vintage advertising pieces, antique bottles, militaria and more.
Tickets are $10, and can be purchased at the door. All are invited to attend this event and all proceeds will benefit the next phase of the Questers’ Merci Train project.
Four Peaks Questers plans to purchase three books about the Friendship and Merci trains to be distributed to seventh grade classrooms and libraries throughout Maricopa County.
