Fountain Hills Theater has announced auditions for the musical “Alice in Wonderland.”

Join Alice as she chases the White Rabbit into a topsy-turvy world that gets “curiouser and curiouser.”

Meet the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, the Queen of Hearts and more characters when we go down the rabbit hole.

“Alice in Wonderland” is directed by Elias Matthews, musically directed by Seikai Ishizuka and choreographed by Brittany Foster.

Alice in Wonderland Auditions will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 10, and 5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 11. Callbacks, if necessary, are at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13.

“Alice in Wonderland” will play March 6-22 in the Ross Collins Playhouse at Fountain Hills Theater, 11445 N. Saguaro Blvd.

Free participation

Thanks to a grant from the Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust and Stardust Foundation, this youth theater production will be free for all participants, according to a press release.

This grant was part of the two foundations’ “Arts and Culture Experiences” grant program, inviting young people to attend and participate in the performing arts.

Casting roles

The casting roles include Alice, the Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, the Doormouse, the Mock Turtle, the Cheshire Cat, the Knave of Hearts, a Jack of Hearts Card, the Caterpillar, the March Hare along with large ensemble roles.

Audition guidelines

Auditioners should complete the digital audition form available at fhtaz.org and bring a headshot and resume, if not already submitted via the website audition page.

Auditioners are asked to sing 16- 32 bars of a song that best shows off their voice and range, this will be followed by a dance audition.

An accompanist is provided. Auditioners are asked to bring sheet music and should be prepared with a short monologue if requested.

Early video auditions, which must be submitted prior to Jan. 10, may be submitted online and substitute for appearing at the regular auditions. The video should include a song showing off voice and range, along with a short monologue.

The video should be uploaded with a headshot and resume (if available).If chosen from a video audition, candidates will be required to appear in person at the callbacks.

FHT seeks to include persons of every race, color, culture, age, gender, creed, physical disability and sexual orientation. Character ages are not set in stone and all roles are open to all ethnicities unless otherwise stated. Actors should consider roles if they feel they can represent the characters and age range listed.
