Celebrating the Jewish holiday Shavuot (or Shavuos), the Ten Commandments will be read aloud from the Torah during morning services Wednesday, June 12, at 10 a.m. at the Chabad Edelman Jewish Center in Fountain Hills, inviting all Jews to attend.
Just as the Sinai event was attended by every Jewish man, woman and child, so too every Jewish person should make every effort to hear the Ten Commandments read aloud from a Torah scroll, a press release read.
Following the reading of the Ten Commandments, a lavish dairy buffet lunch will be served complete with pasta dishes, cheese blintzes, cheesecakes, quiches and an ice cream bar.
There’s no charge for the event and all adults and children of Jewish faith are invited to attend.

More than 3,000 years ago, the Jewish people including men, women, children and souls of Jews of all generations received the Torah from G-d at Mount Sinai.
Shavuot literally means “weeks” and marks the completion of the seven-week counting period between Passover and Shavuot.
During these seven weeks, the Jewish people cleansed themselves of the spiritual scars of Egyptian slavery and became a sacred nation ready to enter into an eternal covenant with G-d.
Shavuot customs include all-night Torah study, listening to the recitation of the Ten Commandments, the reading of the Book of Ruth, eating dairy products and adorning the synagogue and home with flowers.
