The Fountain Hills Unified School District Governing Board approved new textbooks for Advanced Placement math and chemistry courses at its Oct. 14 meeting, with the books costing about $5,000, according to Board Secretary Krista Andreae.
Board Member Fran Murray said the new textbooks are appropriate for the courses and noted that AP testing standards require schools to keep course materials up to date.
“I like textbooks. I thought they’re very appropriate,” she said. “AP causes us to spend money. So if the public wants to know why we have to keep spending money because math doesn’t change, we’re required to by AP testing standards.”
