The Sojourner Center, a domestic violence safe haven since 1977, has chosen to honor the Rio Verde Women’s Golf Association (WGA) with its Stewart Lazar Community Award at a Better Together Breakfast Sept. 26.

This award recognizes the important contribution that the WGA together with the Niners, Rio Verde’s nine-hole women’s golf group, have made to support the survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking. Rio Verde has held an annual charity event for the last six years dedicated to the mission of the Sojourner Center. Debbie Luczynski has agreed to accept this award on behalf of the WGA.

Through the efforts of the WGA and other organizations the Sojourner Center raised more than $85,000 in 2023 to support its efforts to help women and children in crisis.

The Better Together Breakfast will be held at 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Hilton Phoenix Resort at the Peak. For those members who would like to attend the breakfast, contact WGA President Jennifer Page at 303-913-3227 or pagejennifer036@gmail.com.

There is no cost for breakfast, but a heartfelt donation is appreciated. To learn more about the work of the Sojourner Center which is in downtown Phoenix visit sojournercenter.org.
