The first show of the new theater season opens at Fountain Hills Theater Friday, Aug. 10.

“Ring of Fire,” from the iconic songbook of Johnny Cash, is the story about love and faith, struggle and success, rowdiness and redemption and home and family. The musical is the story of the musical legend as chronicled through his music.

“Ring of Fire” opens Aug. 10 and continues through Aug. 26 on Mainstage Too! at Fountain Hills Theater, 11445 N. Saguaro Blvd. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

The story features a score rich in Cash’s music with more than two dozen classic hits including “I Walk the Line,” “A Boy Named Sue,” “Folsom Prison Blues” and the title tune. The show paints a musical portrait of the Man in Black in what promises to be a great salute to the musical legend.

It is fitting that Fountain Hills Theater offers tribute to Johnny Cash in 2018, the 50th anniversary of his legendary recording in Folsom Prison.

The cast includes Dave Lopez, Tom Magnum, Jay Melberg, Ukiah Odom, Tanya Schoenwolf and Lesle St. John. The show is directed by Peter J. Hill. Producer is Debra Qualtmire. Musical directors are Lesle St. John and Ukiah Odom; and choreographer is Jenny Lynne Iverson.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $12 for youth 17 and younger. Seniors receive a $5 discount on Thursday performances. Group rates and veteran discounts also are available.
