Porritt wins 'Best of Show'

A Juried Art Show reception on Jan. 8 at the Community Center, sponsored by the Fountain Hills Cultural and Civic Association, drew a nice crowd.
Those in attendance admired the artistic talents of local artists and enjoyed refreshments served by members of the Four Peaks Women’s Club.
Ribbons were awarded by show judges Don Kenworthy, Alan Magazine and Jack Morris Jr.
Carol Porritt won Best of Show with her oil “Boy Dancer.”
First-place ribbons went to Carol Ofsthun (acrylic), Rowell Quinton (oil), Mary McGrath (watercolor), Diane Jones (mixed media), Donald Parks (pastel), Mary Messick (graphics), Carol Cunningham (sculpture), Marie Celone (digital painting), Carol Budrow (color photography) and Sam Lazarus (b/w photography).
Second-place winners were Robin Hoyt (acrylic), Patricia Kenney (oil), Susan Harding (watercolor), Karen Holloway (mixed media), Joan Rand (pastel), Doris Dale (graphics), Greg Smentek (sculpture), Marie Celona (digital painting) and Carol Carroll (color photography).
Artists winning third- place ribbons were Robin Hoyt (acrylic), Allen Fossenkemper (oil), Dr. Emmett J. Ryan (watercolor), Claudia Smith (mixed media), Joan Rand (pastel), Sam Lazarus (graphics), Dennis Weber (sculpture), Evamarie Ciolina (digital painting), and Kaaren Carone (color photography).
Honorable mentions went to Dr. Hal Hunt (acrylic), Rosalie Lazarus (oil), Sue Frederick (pastel) and Carol Crane (color photography).
The show will hang until Thursday, Jan. 30. Additional photographs of show artists and their works are available on the FHCCA website www.fhcultural-civic.org – then go to civic/juried art show.
