Fountain Hills Theater is gearing up for a full slate of summer performing theater arts camps.

Session 1 will be held June 1-12:

*Musical theater fun – 9 a.m. to noon; instructor Paige Beckman; ages 9-14; students develop acting, singing and dancing skills, using numbers from classical musical productions; no final performance, this is a skill-building camp.

*Musical theater camp – 1-3 p.m.; ages 7-10; instructor, Jenny Iverson; sing, dance and re-enact scenes from a popular Disney winter tale; memorization of both lines and choreography required; informal performance on final day of camp.

Session 2 will be held June 15-26:

*Improv acting camp – 9 a.m. to 12 noon; instructor, Paige Beckman; ages 9-14; improve confidence, projections, learn how to take stage direction and develop character through the use of improvisational games and activities; no final performance.

*Peter Pan musical theater camp – 1-3 p.m.; instructor, Jenny Iverson; ages 7-10; sing, dance and re-enact scenes from this classic story. Students will focus on a semi-formal final performance on the last day of camp; memorization of lines and choreography required.

Session 3 is slated for July 6-17:

*Musical theater production – 9 a.m. to 12 noon; instructor, Paige Beckman; ages 9-14; students rehears for a musical performance of an abbreviated version of the classic story of Alice in Wonderland; family and friends invited on the final day of camp.

*Teen summer performance camp – Five-week, full-day camp from June 8 to July 10; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; performances July 10, 11 and 12; for students entering seventh grade through high school seniors; learn valuable theatrical skills including audition techniques, stage movement, dance, vocal training; rehears for and perform in a fully-staged musical production.

There are 10 percent discounts for Fountain Hills residents and for families enrolling more than one child in a session (excludes Teen Camp). Payment plans are available; a limited number of partial and full scholarships are available with application.
