Munch & Music: Two groups perform Friday
The well-experienced Fountain Brass also will take to the stage as part of the Munch and Music program on Friday.

The noontime Munch and Music at the Community Center continues Friday, Feb. 7, at 12:15 p.m.
Local musicians present these free half-hour programs, and the public is invited to come with your lunch or just to enjoy the music.
The 2014 schedule is gratefully dedicated to the fond memory of Barbara Wyman, who for years was the organizer of these events.
Friday’s concert features a “two-fer” pair of ensembles: the newly-formed Fountain Hills Saxophone Quartet, including Rev. David Felten, soprano sax; Heather Baldwin, alto sax; Michael McWethy, tenor sax; and Dale Nelson, baritone sax.
In addition, the program will conclude with the popular Fountain Brass, composed of Roy Nickel and Al Roselieb, trumpets; David Kinderfather, French Horn; Ed Madden, trombone; and Ron Haedt, tuba.
The Saxophone Quartet will perform music selections from classical to jazz – from ragtime to toe-tapping patriotic favorites with a unique blend of styles in the saxophone medium.
Felten studied saxophone performance at ASU and currently serves as pastor of The Fountains, a United Methodist Church, in Fountain Hills. Baldwin studied saxophone at Michigan State University and is a former captain in the U.S. Army. She is a writer and piano teacher and performs regularly at Christ’s Church in Fountain Hills.
McWethy is a software engineer who attended the U. of Michigan and performs regularly with the Fountain Hills Community Band.
Founding member Dale Nelson studied at the U. of Wisconsin and is a retired medical supply sales rep. He is president of the Fountain Hills Community Band.
The Fountain Brass has appeared in several Munch and Music concerts throughout the past several years.
Audiences will hear the brass quintet music of R. Vaughn Williams; a new arrangement by trombonist, Ed Madden, who is the conductor of the Fountain Hills Community Band, entitled, “Fidgety Feet;” a popular patriotic tune, “Glory, Look Away,” and the old Dixieland favorite, “Chicago!”
The brass is composed of several retired music teachers, a science teacher and a retired architect. As a special guest, Deb Hurd, banjo from Fountain Hills. will also join the brass group for this performance.
The final program of the series will be on Friday, Feb. 14 (Valentine’s Day), and feature the ever-popular OK Chorale.
