This is the final week for residents to see the classic “South Pacific” at the Fountain Hills Theater.

From the haunting “Bali Hai” to the exquisite “Some Enchanted Evening,” this Rodgers and Hammerstein classic contains some of the most glorious music ever written.

“South Pacific” tells the sweeping romantic story of two couples on a remote island in the Pacific – a U.S. Navy nurse and an expatriate French plantation owner, and a Marine Corps lieutenant and a young local girl – and how their happiness is threatened by the realities of war and their own prejudices.

Helmed by FHT’s Artistic Director Peter J. Hill, and incorporating newsreel footage from WWII, this production of “South Pacific” balances intimate, personal stories with the sweeping grandeur of wartime drama.

The show stars Karissa Anderson-Self, Chris Fidler, Alex Gonzalez, Nicholas Hambruch, Dawn LeSueur, Matt Mcdonald, Hal Morgan, Roger Prenger, Patrick Russo, Chelsea Umeda and Tom Vinopal.

The production also features Katie Barnett, Joshua Buescher, Heidi Carpenter, J.P. Clemente, Ashley Fredricksen, Andrey Lull, Stephani Mcdonald, Kieth and Marna McLendon, Dan Marburger, Brandon Murphy, J. Jay Rangel, Josie Sand and Asher Sheppard.

Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Individual tickets are $33 for adults and $28 for children 17 and under. Seniors receive a $5 discount on all Thursday performances.

All performances are at Fountain Hills Theater on its Mainstage at 11445 N. Saguaro Blvd. Tickets are available through the Theater Box Office at (480) 837-9661, ext. 3. Box Office hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Visit the website at www.fhtaz.org.
