In a clash of the two most formidable defenses in the 2A conference, Fountain Hills boys basketball was held to a season low in points as the Falcons season ended at the hands of top-seeded Pima 36-26 in the 2A state semifinals on Thursday, Feb. 26.
The Falcons never held the lead and found themselves in an 8-2 hole early as the speed of the Roughriders made it difficult to find their footing.
A 6-2 run by Fountain Hills brought the score within two but that would be the closest it got. Pima knocked down a three to end the first half with a 13-8 lead followed by a scoring outburst in the third quarter to put Fountain Hills in a 25-14 hole.
