Cristmas Carol tugs heartstrings
Posted
Fountain Hills Theater will continues its production of “A Christmas Carol: The Musical” this week.
It is the world premiere musical adaptation of the Charles Dickens’ classic holiday tale.
Due to sellout shows, however, matinees have been added at 2 p.m. on two Saturdays, Dec. 14 and 21.
There are 32 cast members, which includes 10 children.
A miserly and miserable man, Ebenezer Scrooge greets each Christmas with a “bah humbug” until he is visited one Christmas Eve by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future.
Through a restless night, the spirits show him happy memories from his past, cruel realities from the present and the grim future should he continue his cantankerous ways.
With a new musical adaptation by FHT Artistic Director Peter J. Hill, Scrooge’s story of redemption remains as powerful and uplifting as it ever was.
Working closely with Dickens’ original text, Hill has crafted a new musical for the stage that has taken the spirit of the season, wrapped it in beautiful original melodies and tied it with all the holiday magic and wonder of one’s childhood.
The show runs through Dec. 22.
Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 2 and 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Individual tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children 17 and under.
Tickets are available at 837-9661.
The production is partially underwritten by Wells Fargo Bank.
