The Community Church of the Verdes will mark a significant milestone in the coming months with the retirement of longtime Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Cathy Northrup and the arrival of her successor, Rev. Stephen Beard.
After 13 years of faithful and spirit-filled leadership, Northrup will deliver her final sermon Sunday, Aug. 31, at 8:30 a.m.
The church community is invited to join in a special service that day to celebrate her ministry and the many ways she has impacted the congregation.

The Community Church of the Verdes will mark a significant milestone in the coming months with the retirement of longtime Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Cathy Northrup and the arrival of her successor, Rev. Stephen Beard.

Earlier this year, the church’s Board of Trustees had unanimously approved the recommendation of the Call Committee to welcome Beard as the new senior pastor.
Beard most recently served as senior pastor at Mountain View Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale and will begin his new role at Community Church of the Verdes Sunday, Sept. 7.
