The Community Church of the Verdes’ Board of Trustees has announced Rev. Stephen Beard has accepted its offer to become the new senior pastor for the church.
Pastor Beard will begin in September with the retirement of Rev. Dr. Cathy Northrup.
The board unanimously approved the recommendation of the Call Committee that conducted the pastor search.

The Community Church of the Verdes’ Board of Trustees has announced Rev. Stephen Beard has accepted its offer to become the new senior pastor for the church.
Pastor Beard will begin in September with the retirement of Rev. Dr. Cathy Northrup.
The board unanimously approved the recommendation of the Call Committee that conducted the pastor search.
Rev. Beard will come to the Verdes from Mountain View Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale where he serves as senior pastor.
A statement from the board says, “Please join us in giving thanks to God and extending a heartfelt welcome to Pastor Steve and (his wife) Julie. We are filled with anticipation as we enter this new chapter in the life of Community Church of the Verdes under his leadership.”
