Chamber Players on March 8

Posted

Join the Fountain Hills Chamber Players Sunday, March 8, for their final concert of the season, presented at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.

The concert features piano trios by Beethoven, Loeffler and Brahms.

The piano trios consist of instrumental combinations including the flute, bassoon, viola, oboe, cello and clarinet.

The repertoire, offering a diverse range of musical sound and expression, also spans three distinctive stylistic periods and significant compositional signatures of each composer.

Beethoven was relatively young when completing his trio for piano, flute and bassoon, and in this piece he captures a highly-creative treatment of the variation form.

Charles Martin Loeffler, the least known of the three composers, has written a lush, dynamic and compelling score for piano, oboe and viola, representing the most recent of the works on the program.

The final selection is an epic work by Johannes Brahms featuring his Trio in A minor, Op. 114 for piano, clarinet and cello. The four movements of carefully crafted musical inspiration was declared by Brahms “…the only reason a musician should ever create!”

Artistic Director Joseph Kluesener will begin the afternoon with a pre-concert talk at 2:30 p.m.

His guest, Joshua Gardner, Arizona State University faculty and Fountain Hills Chamber Players clarinetist, will share some special musical insights into the music to be performed. Following the interview, the concert will begin at 3 p.m.

For the price of a ticket, enjoy the pre-concert talk, the concert and a delicious reception with the artists, hosted by the Four Peaks Women’s Club, and donated treats by Phil’s Filling Station Grill.

Single tickets are $20 each, with special rates available for groups. In addition, students with valid student ID are entitled to a 50 percent discount. Please, cash and check only at the box office; no ATM on site.
