The community is invited to the next Fountain Hills Artists’ Gallery’s weekly demonstration Tuesday, Jan. 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The featured artist for the event is abstract acrylic artist Sandy Gatlin.
Gatlin says she has been surrounded by talented artists her entire life including her father, her husband and now her son.
Gatlin studied art in high school and college.
“...A wonderful life came with priorities, raising my kids, a career in the medical world, and now the time for creating art is in my retirement years,” Gatlin said. “Pure joy is in a tube of paint.”
Using a palette knife to create her abstract paintings, Gatlin says she was inspired by two abstract artists, Arlene Towne and Bonnie Miller.
“Through the use of color, texture, intuition and imagination, I am on my own abstract journey,” she said.
The gallery is located at 16858 E. Avenue of the Fountains and is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
