Art fair fees

Posted

I listened to the Town Council discuss the value of fee waivers at its meeting on May 21. Given that residents will soon be asked to pay higher fees, why can’t “legacy” partners like the Chamber of Commerce pay a modest fee increase to the town as well, as suggested by Councilman David Spelich?

It would seem that the two art fairs managed by the Chamber of Commerce are as beneficial to the town as they are to the Chamber’s own budget. Without the two art fairs, what other substantive sources of revenue does the Chamber generate for itself? One thing seems clear: No one seems to know what the Chamber of Commerce makes from the two art fairs, as pointed out by Councilman Dennis Brown. It’s time that the Town Council figures that out.
