Yolanda DelZoppo

Posted

Yolanda DelZoppo, who loved to be called “Del” (a nickname that her husband gave her) lived most of her life on Staten Island, N.Y. She and her husband, Tony, were married for 67 years. They had a daughter, Sandy, and two sons, Thomas and Michael.

Del and Tony owned a very popular delicatessen called Lane Deli for over 30 years, where they specialized in making Italian pasta dishes. They also ran a catering business and developed long-lasting relationships with their many satisfied customers.

The family enjoyed traveling and took many wonderful vacations, including San Francisco and Las Vegas. Del loved playing the slot machines and always talked about the time she won a tournament and took home $10,000!

The DelZoppos were members of the Dalessio American Legion Post and the Italian Club on Staten Island. They all were fans of the New York Yankees, New York Giants, and the Staten Island Yankees Farm League.

After Tony died in 2015, Del decided to move to Fountain Hills to be closer to her daughter, Sandy, and son-in-law, Tony. She became a resident of Fountain View Village and enjoyed going to restaurants, decorating her apartment, and going to Happy Hour every Wednesday.

Del was very fond of many of the Fountain View Village employees. They soon learned of her passion for anything chocolate, including a Kiss on the Cheek and her ever-present dish of chocolate candies. She will be remembered by all for her quick New York sense of humor.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Monday, Feb. 4, at 3:30 p.m. in the Fountain View Village Pub.
