Realtors see younger residents returning to hometown

Posted

Fountain Hills residents and Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty Agents Karen DeGeorge and Susan Pellegrini are seeing younger families moving back to town.

“This has been a great renaissance of sorts for our Fountain Hills community,” said Pellegrini. “All of a sudden, we are seeing this huge surge of younger families moving back into the area. Many of these families once lived here and attended our Fountain Hills schools and now they want to come back and raise their own families here.”

The trend has led to a new office for Russ Lyon Sotheby's International Realty and Pellegrini & DeGeorge Partners at 16872 E. Avenue of the Fountains, suite 103.

The town’s close proximity to BASIS, one of the premier charter schools in the country on Shea Boulevard, Scottsdale, is another motivating factor.

“Parents want their kids at BASIS and they realize when they come up to Fountain Hills, they can get more value for their dollar here over Scottsdale, and you just can’t beat the views,” DeGeorge said. “We have some the best views in all of the Valley.”

After joining forces in 2018, Pellegrini & DeGeorge sold $62 million in real estate last year with a majority of their closings in Fountain Hills.

The duo represented sellers in 64 transactions and 51 transactions as the buyer’s agent in 2018.

So far this year, sales are trending 6 percent higher than previous years and are expected to outpace 2018. The group has closed 58 transactions totaling more than $43 million to date this year. Another $8 million is currently in escrow.

The average sold sales price was $419,000, according to the group that also consists of Tony Pellegrini, Valerie O’Keefe and Carly Pellegrini.
