Two Fountain Hills businesses teamed up for their beer-pairing dinner.

Batchelor’s Pad BBQ (BPBBQ) and Bone Haus Brewing’s first collaboration was curated by BPBBQ Co-Owner Erik Batchelor and Bone Haus Brewing Beer Educator Rachel Benkowski.

The menu featured four courses, each of which was paired with a unique Bone Haus beer.

Course one featured a watercress sponge cake drizzled with citrus vinaigrette topped with hollandaise foam paired with Bone Haus Brewing’s Lichii Blood Orange New England IPA.

The second course featured a crispy pork belly with black currant puree paired with Englemann’s Elixir Prickly Pear Pale Ale.

The third course was beef medallion served with grilled asparagus on a bed of roasted garlic emulsion paired with Phantom Brass Hoppy Pale Ale and the fourth and final course featured an espresso pecan travel cake paired with Dutchman’s Dream Wulfenite Raspberry Pale Ale.

“This sort of elevated tasting experience is something that Fountain Hills residents crave and love, and we love that it can happen with local FH businesses,” says Benkowski. “Usually when people think of pairing dinners, they think of wine. However, beer can be just as complex and eloquent as wine, and it is far more diverse, which makes for a very exciting sensory experience.”

Benkowski is a certified cicerone (beer equivalent to a sommelier), historian and beer educator and Batchelor is the pit master at BPBBQ, certified cake decorator, Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt and recovering corporate food worker.

The next dinner is planned for Saturday, Aug. 31.
