You can’t lead in Fountain Hills if you don’t win

You can’t lead if you don’t win? Was this the credo of new Mayor Friedel and Councilpersons Earle, Watts, (contender Corrigan) and their overt supporters from ROT? They were willing to do or say anything, often by creating illogical scenarios.

They wanted us to think some things and people were bad. Some lied about current conditions. Some “created” unfounded issues in support of their candidacies. Some did backroom social media attacks on incumbents and new candidates. Some posted disrespectful, disgusting signs, often violating local town ordinance. Some claimed malfeasance by their opponents. Some refused to debate some issues or meet with those they identified as perpetrators in order to maintain their stated position. Some even went so far as to say they just knew better, without the benefit of understanding the issues right in front of them.

Now that the dust has settled, sometimes the truth slips out. As I watched the second swearing in on Dec. 10 of Councilpersons McMahon and Watts, incumbent McMahon was gracious without fanfare. Watts, when he made comments, stated, “… remembering the whole time that 95% of the town is in pretty doggone good shape: we were left with something really special. I’d like to carry that on…”
