Witnesses sought in hit and run accident

A Fountain Hills resident has reported they were involved in a hit and run traffic accident at Shea Boulevard and the Beeline Highway on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at about 2:10 p.m.

They were making a right turn from Shea onto the Beeline when they were struck from behind. The resident reported the vehicle that struck her was driven by a woman judged to be in her late 70s. She left the scene when she saw law enforcement approaching.

The vehicle is described as a maroon colored van or SUV, possibly a Mercury Mariner, with a yellow colored, possibly New Mexico license plate. There should be damage to the right front of the vehicle.

Witnesses sought in hit and run accident

A Fountain Hills resident has reported they were involved in a hit and run traffic accident at Shea Boulevard and the Beeline Highway on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at about 2:10 p.m.

They were making a right turn from Shea onto the Beeline when they were struck from behind. The resident reported the vehicle that struck her was driven by a woman judged to be in her late 70s. She left the scene when she saw law enforcement approaching.

The vehicle is described as a maroon colored van or SUV, possibly a Mercury Mariner, with a yellow colored, possibly New Mexico license plate. There should be damage to the right front of the vehicle.

There was also a platform for a portable scooter or wheelchair attached to the rear of the vehicle.

The local resident involved in the collision was driving a black Nissan Sentra. She was taken to a hospital for evaluation following the accident and released.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has information is asked to contact the Arizona Highway Patrol (DPS) in Fountain Hills at 480-837-2162.
