“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” This quote was not written into the U.S. Constitution originally but found its way in amendments, i.e., the Bill of Rights, thanks to men like George Mason, James Madison and Richard Henry Lee, et al.
When democracy is supported by “power of the many,” meaning a militia, and with capitalism’s efficiency easily putting guns on the hips of “the many,” guaranteed we will have followed the “wisdom” of our forefathers.
Making eunuchs of populations has always been the way of “small minds” in Third World countries, but not in the United States, not yet anyway.

Certain demented types acting out in homicidal berserk attacks can never be allowed to enchain entire populations with fear. Otherwise we will have regrettably negotiated a bad deal with terrorists, be they homegrown or foreign.
How would that “demented Batman” have fared with that movie theater’s entire audience having guns with them? It does not take much thought to conclude; he would not be awaiting trial nor getting three meals a day, plus there would be more survivors.
Most important; what about all those genocides through our history? How would history have been written if all those victims had guns? It is clearly evident, because they did not have a means to protect themselves, like those children in grade school or like those college students working in class, that genocides can occur, sad to say those school tragedies are genocides of a sort.
