For years and years, our hometown news reporter has been seated at a small “press” table in the back of our council meetings. The reporting has been faithful to meeting events, neutral and very informational.
However, at the May 6 Town Council meeting, in an extremely petty move — somewhat reflecting our president’s move to block press he dislikes — the press table was removed. The action appears to be part of our town’s MAGA whisper campaign to shut down the town paper. Think what our town would be without it, just a mess of Facebook misinformation.
Step up. Support our town paper by signing up for a subscription.
That table needs to return and the reporter must be given the respect he deserves. Stop the pettiness, Mayor Friedel.
