OPINION – In 2023, Fountain Hills voted on a local school bond measure that focused on enhancing safety and security, upgrading buildings and improving school grounds and facilities.
We learned that the school district lacked the funding to keep buildings in repair and insure student safety. The bond was strongly supported by the Chamber of Commerce, who realized the importance of having a vibrant school system in our town. Superintendent Jagodzinski and the Bond Committee worked tirelessly to communicate the facts to the community.
Unfortunately, a local political group argued against the bond, saying it was unnecessary. Even some of our town leaders (who should have known better) would not support the schools. Voters were told that the state gives us plenty of money, if only it was used wisely by the administration. The bond did not pass.
