The Fountain Hills Crisis Response Team is seeking to recruit new volunteer members, according to team coordinator Tom Aiello.

The Crisis Response Team responds to incidents at the request of the Fountain Hills Rural/Metro Fire Department or the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

These are incidents of personal trauma including sudden death and the team provides families support, care and intervention when public safety personnel may have other duties to attend to.

Team members will make contacts with social agencies, family members and service providers if necessary.

“Our volunteers are extraordinary and just love to help people,” Aiello said. “They have a calling.”

Volunteers with the Crisis Response Team must be 21 years of age or older and follow the application process through the Town of Fountain Hills Volunteer Coordinator, which will include a background check. They should be willing to work a 24-hour shift two times per month or 12-hour shifts four times per month. Response includes at least two team members with a lead and second person. Teams are dispatched by Aiello when requested by MCSO or fire.

There are currently about three dozen members of the team and they need to maintain numbers to cover shifts 24/7/365.

Snow birds and part-time residents are welcome to participate.

Interested persons can contact Aiello at 516-449-8949 for additional information.
