Every year, the VFW Post 7507 sponsors an audio-essay contest program, providing area high school students with the opportunity to express themselves in democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essays.
The 2024-25 theme is “Is America Today Our Forefathers’ Vision?”
The national first-place winner receives a $35,000 scholarship paid directly to the recipient’s American university, college or vocational/technical school, according to a press release.
The state winner receives a minimum of a $1,000 scholarship and additional monetary awards are given at the Post and District levels.
VFW Post 7507 is the local Fountain Hills, Verde Communities and north Scottsdale sponsor for this program.
Audio essays are due to Post 7507 by 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31.
