We have two good candidates running for mayor; both well respected by the community and, above all, admired for their integrity.
There is one issue that isn’t making sense and that is for Cecil Yates, a sitting Council member, not yet announcing that he will resign from that seat by the deadline of April 30 so that a qualified Fountain Hills resident can apply to run for his seat. Otherwise, the council will appoint a councilmember to serve the remainder of his term through December 2020.

Wait a minute, two years?
We have two good candidates running for mayor; both well respected by the community and, above all, admired for their integrity.
There is one issue that isn’t making sense and that is for Cecil Yates, a sitting Council member, not yet announcing that he will resign from that seat by the deadline of April 30 so that a qualified Fountain Hills resident can apply to run for his seat. Otherwise, the council will appoint a councilmember to serve the remainder of his term through December 2020.
That, to me, is unacceptable. If it was for a few months, maybe. But two years? No way. We need to elect who is going to sit in that seat and represent our choice, not the councilmembers’ choice.
