Two thoughts

It is OK to vote yes. I am going to vote yes for the proposed primary property tax in the upcoming election and encourage you to do so, also. I know I will be in good company in doing so since many very respected and financially astute residents have endorsed the tax also, State Senator John Kavanagh and his wife, Mayor Linda, being among that group.

I don’t think anyone has ever said that Senator Kavanagh was a reckless spender; in fact, he has often been accused of cutting taxes and cutting spending too much. With both mayoral candidates Ginny Dickey and Cecil Yates endorsing and voting yes, and with all the current council members endorsing the proposed tax, you know it is not only OK to vote yes, but the best thing to do.

So, please join me, Senator Kavanagh, Mayor Kavanagh, Councilman and mayoral candidate Cecil Yates, mayoral candidate and former Councilwoman Ginny Dickey and many others in voting yes on May 15, or earlier if by mail-in ballot.

Secondly, I want to acknowledge and thank the great staff at our Community Center. They do a superb job all the time, but it was really evident these past couple of weeks when they have had a very busy time with multiple large groups using the facility. Just a few examples: Wednesday was the River of Time Museum’s dinner presentation using multiple ballrooms, Friday was the Chamber of Commerce Gala using all four ballrooms, Saturday morning was the Republican Club meeting and later that same day were the multiple events for the Dark Sky Festival, using all four ballrooms.

Throughout, the staff was friendly, efficient, approachable and helpful; and all was in great order. The staff makes the Community Center a wonderful asset for the community.
