Dictated by Turtle to Rebecca Fairfax:
Dear Editor,
My name is Turtle and I have been eagerly following this lagoon business.
You see, I lived with some very nice people who had a pool and two small ponds. My home was in the largest pond, where I dined, hung out with the fish, hibernated and got my news from Heron, who still visit me in my new, not so plush residence.
I was banished, unfortunately, because every day I trudged over to the people pool to take a dip and do a few laps.
Well, the very nice people, who liked a sparkling, algae free pool, found I was not showering before taking my exercise in the pool. The result was a less than pristine pool on several occasions and, once I was identified as the culprit, I found me and my shell in a regular pond with no pool access. Rats!
So, when I heard about this lagoon being so conveniently placed by the Fountain Lake, I spoke to Heron. He opined that I should join P.H.E.W., the newly formed action group (Please Help Exercise-Minded Wildlife) and encourage this wonderful lagoon by the lake venture. So far, there are a few million water birds, turtles, etc. who are ready to take up residence at this new luxury venue and avail themselves of the facilities.
I am looking forward to fountain and mountain views, nipping 3,700 people (that is the capacity for the lagoon, I think, but I am not sure if that count includes herons, turtles, ducks, etc.) or approximately 30,700 toes, on a regular basis and living life to the fullest.
Please construct that thing fast. You have my vote.
