The Palisades Blvd. entrance and median are in deplorable condition. It’s our first entrance for visitors and residents, the first impression for prospective home buyers.
The northwest corner of Shea and Palisades was a sea of flowers until about five years ago when utilities were dug up and the flowers destroyed. It’s now all dirt.
Continuing north you will see bare dirt and desert scrub plants -- nothing you’d use to landscape your home. And then the trash begins, continuing all the way to SunRidge Drive.

When you turn west on Shea, the trash is worse.
On Palisades, there are drip lines all over that go to nothing. There are no plants at the drip heads. The green you see is desert scrub plants – most people would spray to kill it.
No other medians look like this. They all have rock or granite and are raked smooth. The shrubs are nursery stock.
The median on Shea going east is fairly clean, has granite and is raked and has nursery plants. Why is Palisades treated differently? We who live off Palisades pay taxes like all residents.
A couple of months ago I got tired of looking at the mess and called the mayor’s office. I called once a week for three weeks and finally got a mayor’s secretary to call back. I finally had a brief meeting with the mayor. I discussed several problems. Nothing has been done yet to clean up the mess. I placed follow-up calls to the mayor. No response.
These issues have a bearing on the public perception of the town. The Great Fair is this weekend. Do we think people won’t see this?
There are some partially finished homes at Palisades and Shea (our entrance). I gave the mayor suggestions to possibly get something going on the property. Again, no response.
