Town of Fountain Hills to receive Sports Authority grant funding

Will be used for court resurfacing at town parks

The Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority (AZSTA) is awarding a record $6.3 million in grant funding to promote youth and amateur sports programs across Maricopa County, which includes $90,000 to the Town of Fountain Hills.

In March, the Fountain Hills Town Council approved a staff request to apply for the grant funds to be used to resurface tennis and basketball courts at town parks.

Community Services Director Kevin Snipes told the council it is time to resurface tennis courts at Golden Eagle and Four Peaks parks and the basketball courts at Golden Eagle. He said they were last resurfaced in 2016 with an acrylic coating expected to last eight to 10 years. The courts are showing signs of wear.
