Town makes plea for volunteers

Posted

There is a busy spring season coming up with many events and activities being supported by the Town of Fountain Hills.

Town Volunteer Coordinator Heather Ware is making a plea for volunteers to step up and help out letting the community put its best foot forward for visitors.

Here are some of the opportunities for volunteers:

*Needed two or three volunteers to make phone calls using a script to current businesses. Calls will be made in Town Hall – schedule is completely flexible but the calls need to be made ASAP. This will be a great help in the business license division of the Town Finance Department.

*A volunteer is needed for afternoons during February to work at front desk reception area, upstairs in Town Hall. Duties involve answering phones, assisting with mail and other light clerical duties. Help is needed Tuesday, Feb. 17, and Monday, Feb. 23, from 1 to 3 p.m.

*The Save Our Sculptures (SOS) program needs help on the fourth Saturday to work on team 4. Duties involve working with a team of three cleaning sculptures on assigned pieces near the Library/Centennial Circle on the fourth Saturday of the month, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. It’s a fun way to become familiar with the art pieces and meet other volunteers.

*Great Fair volunteers are needed to take shifts at the town tourism booth. Fair dates are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Feb. 20, 21 and 22. Shifts are 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 2 - 4 p.m. Duties involve handing out information and fliers to visitors to the booth.

*Eggstravaganza on Saturday, March 28, from 7 to 10 a.m. at Golden Eagle Park. Duties involve spreading 15,000 Easter eggs including three golden eggs on each field and guarding them until the event starts, monitor the Peeps and Hoppy bunny picture line, and help at redemption table for raffle prizes. Must be willing and able to have fun and smile a lot.

*PITCH, HIT, RUN on Wednesday, April 1, at Golden Eagle Park, fields two and three from 5 to 7 p.m. Duties are assisting with set up and break down of event, registration, measuring results at hitting, pitching and running, answering questions, crowd control, tallying results, retrieving baseballs, and other duties.
