Fountain Hills Town Council updates zoning guidelines

To meet new requirements of state law

The Fountain Hills Town Council voted unanimously to approve an amendment to the Zoning Ordinance that authorizes staff to review and approve site plans.

The action was taken to meet the requirements of HB2447 passed by the Arizona State Legislature in July. That bill requires cities and towns to give staff authority to approve site plans, development plans, land divisions, lot line adjustments, lot ties, preliminary plats, final plats and plat amendments without a public hearing.

The legislation is part of a broad effort to streamline the development review process and reduce barriers to housing and commercial development.
