Town Council meets Feb. 5

The Town Council will meet Tuesday, Feb. 5, with a light agenda to consider.
The council will hear an update on the status of strategic planning objectives from the Strategic Planning Advisory Commission.
Staff will also update the council on the progress regarding the restoration at Golden Eagle Park after a damaging flood in October last year. The sodding has been completed on the three ball fields, but there is additional work before the facilities can reopen.
There is a budget transfer of $10,000 from the Economic Development Fund to the Tourism Fund from monies granted through Prop 202 funding from the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation.
The council will consider the appointment of four individuals to serve on the Strategic Planning Advisory Commission.
The council has begun its annual review of bills under consideration at the Arizona Legislature. Council discussion is based on a regular report from the League of Arizona Cities and Towns.
Key topics for legislation this year impacting municipalities include distracted driving bills, highway safety fee, election issues, short term rentals and transaction privilege taxes on goods purchased digitally.
The state budget is also a topic for legislative discussion.
Mayor Ginny Dickey will have a proclamation declaring February “Go Red for Women Month” in Fountain Hills. This is an effort to raise awareness of women’s risk of heart disease and stroke.
The Town Council meets Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 5:30 p.m. in council chambers at Town Hall.
