Town Council hosts full agenda

It’s going to be a busy night for the Town Council, with an agenda boasting items from updates on the recent Vision Fountain Hills community workshop to Fourth of July plans and beyond.

The Council will meet a bit early this Thursday, May 19, with an executive session to discuss the Park Place Development Agreement with the attorney of the public body.

That portion of the meeting will be held behind closed doors, with the public invited to attend the regular agenda scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers.

Along with the quarterly budget report, the Council will also hear a report from Ranger Amy Burnett from the Arizona Game and Fish Department. Burnett’s visit has been spurred on by recent javelina attacks in Fountain Hills, and she will be discussing both wildlife regulations and safety issues for local neighborhoods. An update on the wash maintenance schedule will also be offered later in the evening, which has ties to complaints related to the first of two recent javelina attacks.

Burnett will be followed by Jerry Butler, who will be giving the Council an update on the Vision Fountain Hills Workshop held on May 7.

Dave Ott will also officially be presented to the Council as the new Fire Chief at Thursday’s meeting.

Under the regular agenda, the Council will revisit an item tabled in April concerning Copperwynd Resort. When the item first came to the Council concerning noise issues in and around Coperwynd after 10 p.m. due to weddings and receptions, the Council determined that, based on the comments provided by Copperwynd representation and the complainants, a resolution may be reached without Council involvement. Copperwynd’s request for temporary use permits allowing wedding events and receptions past 10 p.m. will be revisited during this week’s meeting.

Also being considered is a request by the L. Alan Cruikshank River of Time Museum board of directors. The museum’s board will talk in regards to proposed short and long-term improvements to the facility, as well as future construction plans for a new museum.

Finally, with the Fourth of July just around the corner, the Council will be provided with an update in regards to plans for this year’s celebration at Fountain Park.
