An upcoming Spiritual Life Conference to be hosted by Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church has received a monetary boost from Thrivent Financial.

Local Thrivent Financial representatives Jerrod Stearnes and Mike Scharnow arranged for a $2,500 donation from Thrivent to help subsidize the event.

The Spiritual Life Conference is set for Jan. 27-28 at SOTH.

Between 150 and 200 Lutheran church pastors and other leaders will participate in the leadership conference.

“We are pleased to provide this gift to the conference,” Stearnes said. “Thrivent is a huge supporter of non-profits, churches and other programs such as Habitat for Humanity.

“This is just one way that Thrivent Financial shows its generosity and encourages its members to live generously.”

SOTH is part of the Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ, and the conference is intended to provide leadership and educational programs to LCMC pastors and other leaders.

The conference will include worship, keynote addresses, breakout sessions and other workshops.

This will mark the second consecutive year the church is offering the event.

“We were thrilled when Mike and Jerrod told us about this financial assistance,” said SOTH Pastor Kent Groethe. “We appreciate Thrivent Financial and the strong relationships they develop with churches and their members.”

Keynote speakers will include Mark Vander Tuig, who has served as pastor at several churches and has been the LCMC service coordinator since 2010.

Another keynote speaker will be Stephanie Murillo, a Kingman native who writes Bible studies, has taught at Northern Arizona University and conducts seminars on how to teach creative writing and on the neuro-physiology of learning.

For more information about the Spiritual Life Conference, contact SOTH at 480-837-9532 or email Julia Becklund at julia@sothaz.com.

Thrivent Financial is a Fortune 300 not-for-profit company. It is a membership organization of Christians with a stated purpose of helping its members be wise with their money, live generously and protecting the risk in their lives.

Thrivent reps Stearnes and Scharnow have a local office in the Broker’s Alliance building, corner of Palisades and Saguaro boulevards. They can be reached at 480-212-3266.
