Thomas: An email I received concerning apartments and politics
Recently I received an email that has the name of a resident at the end of it. The email was sent from an email address that begins with the name of another resident. In the email, the writer discussed the Target plaza rezoning and wrote “people who line up to support the issue…are devoid of real facts surrounding the issue.”
He also wrote, “Who generally lives in apartments? The answer is simple, Democrats. Apologies to anyone on this mailing who may be one but in general, it’s true.” The writer doesn’t cite any credible source of facts to back up his statement. Thus, his statement sounds like nothing more than fearmongering. In that generalization, the writer does not hold himself to the same standard for facts that he criticizes the supporters for.
Renters include our winter visitors, those who rent single-family homes or rent at Park Place or Pillar, to name a few. If you are concerned about empty storefronts and struggling businesses, imagine what the town would look like if all renters — and maybe all Democrats, too — spent their money outside of Fountain Hills, where perhaps they — and all of their spending — would be more welcome. Then you’d see just how open for business our Town is.
