The controversy over changes to the operation of Fountain Hills Theater has gone viral. Business and artistic changes always create heated discussion, which is normal behind closed doors.
I was on Sarah Caldwell’s Opera Co. of Boston Board and their Connecticut operation for 18 years before she died. In Connecticut, I served on Norwalk Symphony’s Board for many years and was president of the Friends of Norwalk Symphony. There were many heated discussions each new season; always about changes.
It is very damaging to create controversy with the outside audience and the media. The people who send death threats are insane. Send generous donations instead. Much more civilized. Funding the cultural arts is a struggle experienced all over the USA. Fountain Hills has the menu for cultural arts that attracts an audience from many outlying towns.

It takes more than luck. It takes brilliant talent and lots of big donations for our theater to grow with the community it serves. Pitch in and add your name to the roster of donors, please.
Dreamin’ is an original play by Peter Hill based on A Midsummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare and opened June 30th. By coincidence, our daughter chose that play for her wedding theme in 1994.
I made sure our 4 children were culturally educated, learned musical instruments and volunteering to help less fortunate people. You can help educate young people with Fountain Hills Youth Theater, where so much fun is going on.
