We thought about writing a letter expressing our surprise about all the hateful comments that are popping up in our small town, but did not know where to start. In looking for that starting point, we did ask ourselves, “Why did these people choose to move to Fountain Hills?”

We thought about trying to clarify the misleading statements being spread around about the proposed property tax, but then concluded that would only lead to more deceptive comments.

We thought about calling out the outside groups that seem to want to destroy our community, but decided against doing so as it would just give them the publicity that they live for.

Then we thought about mentioning individuals who seem to get their kicks out of twisting facts into lies, but chose not to give them the recognition they crave.

Finally, we concluded, don’t waste your time on trying to overcome hate with love and misleading comments with facts; naysayers simply enjoy being negative.

We concluded the best we could do is to quietly be part of the solution and vote yes.
