The ins and outs of special education in Fountain Hills

School board hosted presentation

In Fountain Hills Unified School District, 178 students — approximately 17% of the total student population — receive specialized education services.

During the Nov. 20 FHUSD Governing Board meeting, Director of Student Services and Special Education Leah Gleason gave a detailed presentation on the district's special education program, covering who qualifies for services, how students are assessed and how the district funds these critical programs.

Gleason's goal in her presentation was to provide a comprehensive overview of Fountain Hills' special education program.
