Councilmember Skillicorn has continued to spread misinformation and disrespect town staff.
First was his infamous, conduct-unbecoming “Signgate” incident, when he intimidated a code enforcement employee and lied to an MCSO deputy, for which he earned council sanctions. More recently he exhibited similar behavior, this time at the council retreat on Dec. 5, 2024.
During the retreat, the town’s CFO, Paul Soldinger, presented funding options for streets. While discussing the first option, the CFO clearly stated – four times – that the option would not mean a tax hike. The CFO’s presentation also clearly showed this. But Skillicorn stated “This would be a tax hike.” The CFO politely and professionally corrected Skillicorn by stating “The first option we just discussed, that one would not raise taxes. I just wanted to make that clear for your understanding.”
Skillicorn retorted, “It’s a tax hike and you can twist the words all you want but to be honest that type of thought process and that statement is intellectually dishonest and I personally take offense to it because it is a tax hike.”
The dishonesty comes from Skillicorn, not the CFO. Skillicorn owes the CFO a public apology, but I doubt Skillicorn has the necessary humility to do that.
Skillicorn continues to be an utter embarrassment to the Town. Worse yet, he poses publicly as a Christian, but his words and actions belie his posturing. He should re-read the Ten Commandments, paying particular attention to the ninth one. The Pastor of the church Skillicorn attends should have a sermon on the Commandments. By continuing to misinform, Skillicorn is also a personal affront to every Christian who has the personal integrity to actually live their life according to the tenets they profess to believe.
