The council needs to hold Skillicorn accountable

The division Councilmember Skillicorn has sown in just 15 months in Fountain Hills has blossomed for all to see.

If you were at the March 5 council meeting, it was dramatically clear. One side of the room was filled with residents wearing rainbow shirts and pins asking for the council to hold Skillicorn accountable for proven violations of the ethics code. The other side was mostly outsiders (non-residents) asking for absolution. One wore a shirt with an AR15 on it. He planted himself in the front row for the entire council to see. Just like Councilmember Skillicorn’s post with the bazooka on his shoulder and his statement, “I have you in my sights.”

Instilling fear and intimidation is a tool the far right uses very well. And most, unfortunately, have buckled under the pressure. My hope is that the council majority remains true to their word. They promised to uphold the laws that govern our community. They swore to keep us safe. Even if it happens to be one of their own, they are obligated to the people of Fountain Hills, not their political allegiances.

Do the right thing for Fountain Hills. Hold Councilmember Allen Skillicorn accountable for violating his promise to his God to remain faithful to rules that govern Fountain Hills.
